After voter registration drives are over, Election Alliance will host Election Day Electricity on Tuesday, November 4. It has rented out the entire Commons facility for the whole day so students can hang out and watch as the returns come in. Before the big day, it will host debates and other events to help students learn about prominent issues. Although Election Alliance itself is nonpartisan, it offers ways to get involved in both the McCain and Obama campaigns.

Election Alliance is a Vanderbilt-based organization, but it has also spawned something bigger-the Tennessee Takeover. As another voter registration campaign, the Takeover plans to set up tables at football games throughout the state. This way, students and adults alike will be given the opportunity to register.

Election Alliance itself has already registered over 500 voters and hopes to surpass its goal of 1,000 before October 6, which is the last day to register to vote in Tennessee. In the next month, Election Alliance members will be everywhere, from football games to dorm rooms, urging students to register to vote. The Election Alliance is giving Vanderbilt youth the opportunity: will they take it?
