Eye on Obama
|
Barack Obama, the freshman senator from Illinois and semi-divine savior of the Democratic Party, has already made his charismatic presence felt in just his first month on Capitol Hill. In a shrewd display of political acumen, Obama, along with a mere 99 of his brave Senate colleagues, co-sponsored S.R. 38, a resolution commending the people of Iraq for their national elections. Sen. Obama has also been a champion for the nation's veterans as a member of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee. The Committee was set to hold a hearing Tuesday about the Bush Administration's proposed decrease in the rate of growth of funding for the Department of Veterans' Affairs. We can be certain that the indefatigable Obama pulled no punches and asked hard-hitting questions as he represented the American people on such a hot-button issue.
